Work / Family Balance

We are especially committed to enabling our employees to enjoy both their career and their family. Employees with children or family members who are ill and need care receive as much support as possible from DG HYP. This is the high standard that we have set ourselves. Together with our employees, we are always in search of individual solutions to personal matters.

In addition to flexible working hours with time-savings accounts, various flex-time models and occasional mobile working, we offer professional counselling and expert support for childcare and care of dependent relatives through cooperation agreements with two employee assistance organisations, pme Familienservice and Deutscher Pflegering. External experts are also there to help with personal emergencies or problems of all kinds. There is also a parent-child office available at short notice, and we offer emergency childcare where necessary.

To better bridge the time taken out for family leave, and to make it easier to return to work, we developed a three-phase model in 2015. It provides for well-coordinated planning prior to the leave, stay-in-touch measures such as a parental leave newsletter, invitations to events during the leave, as well as for meetings and talks with executives prior to the return. Managers are prepared for these and other measures with a seminar on “Family friendliness as a factor to success”, included in our manager development programme.

In recognition of our family-oriented human resources policy, the non-profit Hertie Foundation awarded us the “audit berufundfamilie“ certificate in 2013, and confirmed it in 2016 – following an extensive re-audit process – for another three years.
