Secure refinancing with Pfandbriefe

We are licensed as a Pfandbrief issuer by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority ("BaFin"), allowing us to use Pfandbriefe to refinance loans collateralised by liens on real property, as well as public finance exposures.

We fulfil the requirements of the German Pfandbrief Act of 26 March 2009 (which replaced the German Mortgage Bank Act of 1899):
Pfandbriefe in issue must be covered by a pool of eligible assets. The cover assets pool must cover the outstanding securities, both in terms of their nominal value as well as regarding the present value of the obligations. Cover assets pools for mortgage bonds (Hypothekenpfandbriefe) and public-sector covered bonds (öffentliche Pfandbriefe) are dynamic ledgers monitored by a trustee. Each of these pools serves as cover for all outstanding mortgage bond issues, or public-sector covered bond issues, respectively. This ensures the uniformly high asset quality of Pfandbriefe in issue.
